Thousand words....

I have heard about this movie since it came out but did not really have the time to sit down and watch till today. Although the critics were very though on  this brilliant Eddy Murphy flick, I personally loved it. It is best described as a thorough inner journey about yourself. It forces you to go back in the past and find out any unresolved issued that may have scarced you for life,an important moments in your life that may have shape the individual you are today.Basically this movie is asking you to do under a deep introspection and the tree is taken as a metaphore to represent our inner self.
We may not realise it but, we cannot leave without words, it helps us communicate with others, express our feelings and ideas and so on...Yet that same tool can be misused or overused and lead us into becoming dead-living creatures. Let me explain myself, we are dead because we talk so much that sometimes we dont even know what we are saying and to whom and that may causes to hurt people around us or very often ourselves, yet we alive since we speaking.
This is very well explained in Islam, whereby we are advised not to utter a word unless its good and brings people together. We are often asked to refrain from gossiping and chatting too much for may fall into sins,or even lie.
In this story, Jack is given a certain amount of leaves on a tree which he is connected with, and as he speaks leaves fall off the tree. He can now not communicate with people, so eventually his marriage, his job seem to pay the price. But then what is much more remarkable in this movie, its the ability of human being to comprehend each beyond mere words, a gesture or smile or even a look can say much more than thousand words.Like with his mother who has Alzheimer and is staying in an elderly care center and with whom they never seem to get along much since she always confuses him for his dad. But after he got sentenced to silence, which therefore enhance his ability to listen, he came to understand that she simply misses his dad for he left without being able to make peace with his son.

A story of my life...

I'm normally not the kind to publish my thoughts and feeling to others so you can imagine how funny blogging may sound to me. Its definitely a new step for me, an exciting one though and hopefully a tool for introspection to help understand how to reconcile two different personalities. See, there is Nagad and she is pious,God fearing, respectable and generous person and on the other hand Maya who is more adventurous, free-spirited and troublesome. So now, you would say there is always two sides to everyone and that is probably true, but what happens when this two sides become two distinct personality with totally different names. Hence the second name, Maya.
